From The Desk Of The President
A big thank you to all of you that came out and celebrated Labor Day as we marched in the parade in Detroit! Local 245 had great participation this year as families, active member’s retirees and International staff marched together in this year’s parade! It was also a historic year as Barack Obama and Joe Biden participated as well, and the hosted an 11am rally at Hart Plaza in which 20 of our Local 245 members represented our local a the rally! Thanks to CAP Chairman Brian Arp for planning and setting up this day as well as Rodney Clemons for arranging show cars, Bob Estes for driving the Flat bed to our carpenters and painters for building the sides and to Ford for their cooperation in letting us utilize the equipment.
Also in August we hosted a successful Golf Outing with thanks to Tom Rizzo and his volunteers for putting all of the day’s events together! The community service committees Blood drive on August 20 was a great success as well and thanks to each of you that supported it.
Stop by the Local and check out the new location of the glass display case, also it now contains Local 245 items for purchase such as; t-shirts, mugs, stickers and trailer hitch covers. More items are coming and sales are off to a good start!
